The National Archaeological Museum, in association with the Spanish Society for Non-Destructive Testing (AEND), is organising the 11th International Conference on Non-Destructive Investigations and Microanalysis for the Diagnostics and Conservation of Cultural and Environmental Heritage.

In recent years new procedures have been developed for analysing cultural assets without taking samples. This methodology is known as non-destructive or non-invasive analysis and in most cases is related to research in other, mainly industrial, fields.

More and more laboratories at both public and private institutions are exploring how these new technologies can facilitate a greater understanding of cultural heritage. Assisted by professionals from different fields dedicated to the study and conservation of this heritage, they are broadening their perspectives, applying the experience of their own investigations to this field and adapting their equipment to the specific needs of cultural assets.
