Many of the objects in the Met’s Egyptian collection are old favorites with our visitors: William, the blue hippo, the exquisite lips of a queen in yellow jasper, the graceful models from Meketre’s tomb, or the serene-looking statue of Hatshepsut in indurated limestone. The stories that these pieces tell about ancient Egypt are well known.

This presentation shares new narratives uncovered as five new acquisition were researched. These fascinating objects open new windows into the ongoing study of ancient Egyptian culture.
