A habitual mode of urban transport during the Early Modern Era, this type of luxurious chair was used for carrying ladies of the aristocracy. The panels were painted by Luis Paret and depict mythological scenes associated with love. The original upholstery has been preserved, as well as the straps that fitted over two bearers’ shoulders to lighten their load.
