The library collection is over 150.000 volumes.
The contemporary collection includes all materials published since 1900. Those published after 1990 are open access stacks and they are held in Room B.
Readers may access digital materials online by using the Museum Libraries Union Catalogue (BIMUS) , the Virtual Library of Bibliographic Heritage (BVPB)
and the Virtual Library of Historical Newspapers (BVPH)

The library also houses one of the most important collections of Archaeology and Prehistory periodicals in Europe, coming from the museum’s own collections and the Centre for Historical Studies at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). Particularly, it may be of interest the Revue Numismatique Française (Paris), the Bullettino dell’ Instituto di Corrispondenza Archeologica (Roma, 1829-1885) and the Revue Britannique (Paris).
Extensive collections on Numismatics and Egyptology, which are unrivalled in Spain, can be found in the library. At present, 700 journals are open access stacks.
