Protohistory and Colonisations

Salas cultura ibérica Pulse para ampliar

The Protohistory and Colonisations Department carries out internal study and research programmes related to the collections spanning the ninth to the first centuries BC and interprets them in their historical and cultural context.

Since the 19th century, these collections have constituted an important source of information for understanding the peoples who inhabited the Iberian Peninsula and its islands, and their relations with other Mediterranean cultures and the rest of Europe during most of the first millennium BC and until this territory became part of the Roman world.
