The role of Al-Andalus in the Hispanic context: beyond traditional interpretations: the work of Juan Carlos Ruiz Souza

On the occasion of the recent presentation of the book "Juan Carlos Ruiz Souza. Obra Selecta", a round-table will be held where several panellists will analyse his contributions to the history of Spanish art. Juan Carlos Ruiz Souza took a fresh look at the study of great works such as the Alhambra in Granada and the Mosque of Cordoba, Santa Clara de Tordesillas, the Alcázar of Seville, the cathedral of Toledo and the monastery of El Escorial. In his work he redefined the historiographical paradigms and analysed the degrees of assimilation of the art and culture of al-Andalus, providing an innovative and brilliant vision of Hispanic art during the Middle Ages
