The Colloquium of the Association Internationale pour l'Étude de la Mosaique Antique (AIEMA) is the scientific meeting of the most international relevance on ancient mosaics from Antiquity which is being organized since 1963 in order to bring together specialists from around the world to contribute to the advancement of knowledge on ancient mosaics. In this regard, the publication of Proceedings are become an essential reference in the literature.

The XIII Congress AIEMA in Madrid is organised by the Carlos III University and co-organized by the MAN in collaboration with the German Archaeological Institute (DAI-Madrid), the Geography and History Faculty (UNED), Archaeological Park Carranque and Casa romana de Hippolytus (Alcalá de Henares), and others institutions and brings together researchers from universities and academic institutions in different countries (Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Greece, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya, Egypt, Lebanon, Israel, Syria, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Holland, Denmark, Great Britain, USA, Canada and Australia), around three themes:

  • Workshops and provincial exchanges
  • Scientific and Technologic Applications to the study of the mosaics
  • New findings
