A work session in which specialists from the fields of humanities and technology will take part to present the results of several applications of the Morphological Residual Model (MRM), an advanced 3-D visualization technique. Its numerous possibilities of uses range from epigraphic readings and archaeological interpretation to heritage preservation and public outreach in museums.
Menhirs, sculptures, inscriptions, archeological sites, etc. acquire a different dimension with the MRM. One of the results that will be presented is the new epigraphic and iconographic readings of Spain's most famous zoomorphic statues, namely the Bulls of Guisando, which will enhance the reconstruction of their cultural landscape. These statues were a silent witness to the pact by which Henry IV acknowledged his sister Isabella as the heiress to the throne of Castile, and sparked the curiosity and imagination of many, from Cervantes to García Lorca. A similar outcome is achieved by the application of MRM to several Roman inscriptions of Augusta Emerita, the capital of Lusitania, to the site of Panoias (Portugal), and to other artefacts and archaeological sites.
