San Isidoro de León from Building Archaeology.
The Royal Collegiate of San Isidoro de León is the result of a long sequence of constructive transformations that is approaching 1000 years of history. This monumental complex still conserves important areas of the original temple, such as the well-known Pantheon of the Kings, which are integrated into the great Romanesque basilica that enlarges the room of the original church. And it is on this aspect, on its progressive process of additions, of which its current state is a consequence, that we will focus the exposition. We thus update our knowledge of the Collegiate Church with a proposal drawn up from the methodological framework of the Building Archaeology, an activity that has accompanied the restoration work that San Isidoro has lived through over the last 20 years.
