Edward C. Harris, director of the National Museum of Bermuda, is the author of a critical book for the methodological development of contemporary Archaeology: Principles of archaeological stratigraphy, which imposed a new technique of control and description of field work around the world with the Harris matrix. Published in 1979, its principles quickly spread in archaeological practice.

Author will explain the origin and development of its methodology and its perception of the subsequent developments in the lecture.
