Exhibit of the Month
This small box contains different carbonised fruits found during the excavation campaigns at Herculaneum that were sponsored by Charles III in the 18th century. This king donated the box, along with other remarkable objects acquired in Italy for his collection, to the Royal Library's Cabinet of Antiquities, founded by Philip V, where it undoubtedly piqued the curiosity of scholars and visitors alike.
