Moving the collection

This varied group of documents contains lists, notes, entries, drawings, inventories, content descriptions, photographs and work material generated by the Siret brothers and, subsequently, the staff at the National Archaeological Museum in the process of packing and transporting the pieces found at dig sites.

This was done on two occasions: in the late 19th century, the pieces were moved from the sites where they had been found to the Siret brothers' home; and in the 1930s and later, the Siret collection was relocated to the museum and later classified and organised.

This documentation also includes lists related to the personal library and archive of Louis Siret, acquired in the 1950s.
