1895-1940. Recreating Atmospheres

After the museum opened in the Palace of the National Library and Museums, the gallery installations changed very little throughout the first third of the 20th century, retaining many of the elements from the Casino de la Reina and the commemorative exhibitions of 1892 and 1893.

Most of the collections were exhibited in chronological order or by type, although new classification criteria related to the concepts of history, labour and social life were introduced.

During the Spanish Civil War the galleries were dismantled to protect the collections. Salto de línea
