Remodelling of the Roman Courtyard

The courtyards were greatly deteriorated by the end of the Civil War and the only one to be preserved was the “Roman” court, which was refurbished with a rationalist aesthetic in keeping with the trends of the day. A modern roof was installed and a perimeter gallery created, and some of the mosaics were laid in their natural location on the floor.
