Resumen

Analizamos en el presente trabajo un escarabeo de piedra que entró a formar parte de la colección egipcia del Museo Arqueológico Nacional (Madrid) en el siglo XIX. En su base porta una de las variantes gráficas del nomen del faraón Nectanebo II. Se trata de una pieza singular, ya que apenas se conocen escarabeos y sellos de la dinastía XXX. Nos plantearemos diversas cuestiones, entre ellas la ocasión de su emisión (y, por tanto, su hipotética finalidad) así como su procedencia dentro de Egipto. Finalmente, valoraremos un posible destino funerario para este amuleto, y esbozaremos una hipótesis acerca de la desaparición de los escarabeos regios en el Egipto preptolemaico.
